Acclaimed recording and visual artist Joseph Arthur spend a little time with us a while back creating a new series of edition prints and mix media originals all inspired by his new album, The Family. Kinetic and soulful, these new pieces are magnificent and it was a true pleasure working with Joseph and the Sugar Press crew.
Check out all of the banging, kinetic work from Joseph at Sugar Press.
Rohitash Rao was in the studio last week signing his new Sugar 100 edition print Smoking Drinking Bird. The print just dropped today and you can get it for 20% off for the next 24 hours at Sugar.Press.
Smoking Drinking Bird is printed on 100% recycled paper made from a blend of bagasse (sugar cane) and cotton fibers. We call it Sugar Paper, but its real name is Pura Bagassee. The base substrate is made by the legendary German paper mill Hahnemühle, among the oldest and most respected mills on the planet. And the coating was developed by the mad paper scientists at Breathing Color based in Austin, TX., also among the best in the paper industry. This is the first recycled paper I have been willing to use for fine art. It's a game changer!
Pura Bagassee is acid and lignin-free. It has a bright white OBA-free matte coating, and comes in smooth and textured finishes. It's dimensionally stable and has a remarkable ink load capacity.
320 gsm | Caliper 20 mil | Opacity 96% | CIE Color 95.07 | Print Permanence: approved by the European Fine Art Trade Guild
Last week, Robert Landau was back in the studio proofing and signing new exhibition prints for his upcoming show at PhotoHouse Brussels. The exhibition features prints from his book Rock ’N’ Roll Billboards of The Sunset Strip. The opening is September 8th and Robert is planning on attending. But, if you can’t join Robert and make it to Europe for the show, we’ve got you covered at FATHOM, our gallery in DTLA. We have a selection of prints from this show, plus his recent LA - It Looks So Real exhibition. Here's just a small selection of what can be seen at the gallery.
Last month I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Hadi Salehi on his photography portfolio featuring the legendary artist Keith Haring at work on what would become one of his last murals. Now, I’m excited to let everyone know that this incredible photography will debut at Guerilla Atelier on 8/25. Truly worth a look!

Raphaele Cohen-Bacry was in the studio yesterday to sign her new Sugar 100 Edition. They're archival pigment prints on 100% recycled paper made from sugar cane and cotton fibers. The original painting is titled What Keeps You Going #6. The mixed media on canvas piece was captured at Studio Iconix as well. Raphaele used acrylic, spray paint and dye to create this compelling series.
